Dallas Regional Chamber Announces 2009 ATHENA® Award Recipient

DALLAS, TX…. The Dallas Regional Chamber announced today that Catherine Rodewald, President, Prudential Asset Resources and Managing Director/Chief Information Officer, Prudential Mortgage Capital Company, is the recipient of the 2009 ATHENA Award®. The ATHENA Award® is a national program that recognizes the accomplishments of a Dallas businesswoman. Sponsored by the Dallas Regional Chamber, the award will be presented to Ms. Rodewald at the 2009 Women's Business Conference luncheon on November 6, 2009 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel (400 N. Olive St., Dallas, TX 75201). This year’s conference promises to be an informative and productive day of professional development and networking.
The ATHENA® Award is open to individuals who strive toward the highest levels of professional accomplishment, excel in their chosen field, devote time and energy to their community in a meaningful way and forge new paths encouraging others to follow. Administered today through the non-profit ATHENA Foundation, more than 5,000 awards have been presented in over 500 communities throughout the world. By honoring exceptional leaders, the ATHENA Award® Program seeks to inspire others to achieve excellence in their professional and personal lives.
Catherine Rodewald is the President, Prudential Asset Resources, and Managing Director/Chief Information Officer of Prudential Mortgage Capital Company, responsible for the leadership and resource management servicing a $64 billion commercial real estate loan portfolio of over 6,000 loans. She has applied her expertise to create a team-based organization using state-of-the art technology tools to improve efficiency, customer service and career opportunities for Prudential’s 175 person Dallas organization, and support of Prudential Mortgage Capital’s 450 person operation.
Prior to her work at Prudential, Catherine was the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Hunt Consolidated Inc. She was the first Chief Information Officer at Hunt, reporting to the CEO, and she revamped the IT structure and strategy to support this global organization. Twenty local networks in ten separate locations were merged into one platform.
Catherine’s personal business contribution also includes national, industry and state positions. She sits on Prudential Mortgage Capital Company’s Senior Management team and its Advisory board, directing the company’s business strategy for this national and global leader in commercial real estate. She is also a member of Prudential’s CIO Cabinet, guiding the enterprise technology strategy and infrastructure for this international organization with 41,000 employees. She sat on the Prudential Small Grants Committee, which awards grants to employee-applicants associated with non-profits in their local communities. She twice emceed the North Texas Prudential Region’s Annual Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide youth recognition program honoring secondary school students for outstanding service.
She has served in industry leadership roles for the Mortgage Bankers Association for nearly fifteen years, and while she worked for Hunt Consolidated, she served on the Executive Committee of the American Petroleum Institute General Committee on Information Management and Technology. She has also provided testimony before the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. In addition to these industry roles, she currently serves the State of Texas as a governor-appointee on the Board of Directors, Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.
Catherine’s community involvement includes significant participation in the Dallas Regional Chamber, Dallas Women’s Forum, International Women’s Forum, Menttium, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and YWCA of Dallas. The overriding theme that runs through all of Catherine’s community service is her care and compassion for the betterment of women. Her focus is not only on the mentoring and development of business and professional women, but also on advancing the plight of the underserved for enhanced opportunities. All of this effort is contributed outside of her professional career commitment.

The Women’s Business Conference is an annual, day long business education conference and networking opportunity for businesswomen and men – professional, corporate and entrepreneurial – at all levels in their careers.
