Statement –
The Workforce and Education Taskforce will direct efforts to coordinate existing programs, develop new partnerships and strengthen the capacity of the region to respond to ever-changing needs in education, training and human resource development.
Purpose/Mission
The Workforce and Education Committee/Task Force will direct efforts regarding the region’s future workforce and education programs. The mission of this group is to initiate, develop and sustain efforts toward furthering the area education, training and workforce development for the Greater Dallas region. This group will assess and improve the cooperative relationship between industry,
education and the Greater Dallas Communities to coordinate existing efforts, develop new partnerships and build and fortify the capacity of the region to respond to ever-changing needs in education, training and human resource development.
The Workforce and Education Group will lead these efforts by assisting with recruitment and coordination of stakeholders to further these goals.
The economic entity served by this effort is the Greater Dallas business region and by association, the companies located in and around this region. The development of a qualified and skilled workforce will lead to maximum productivity for existing and new business and contribute to economic self-sufficiency for individuals in the region.
Membership
The Workforce and Education Group is comprised of representatives of education, industry and advocacy groups from each entity. Members have an expressed personal and professional interest in this inquiry and will sustain interest into the ongoing success of the endeavor.
Objectives
The following objectives are offered:
Illustrate business and education working together toward a mutually beneficial goal.
To develop a coherent program of work that invites and encourages the business and education communities to engage in a short, focused series of initiatives aligning classroom education and business needs.
Policy input, event input, as well as an underlying goal of more communication between the W/F and EDU entities in general.
Having a clear, deliberate plan of action.
Develop a process that facilitates using each organizations resources and talents to address Workforce and Education Taskforce issues
Target high school & college activities.
Share information in the form of meeting speakers or electronic communications on education/workforce development with the larger Chamber membership.
